The County of Los Angeles constructed a $35 million Emergency Room Replacement and New Tuberculosis Unit Project at the Olive View-UCLA Medical Center in Sylmar, California. This project involved the design and construction of a new 31,000 square foot emergency room including 51 exam rooms, a radiology suite with fluoroscopy, general radiology and CT scan rooms, registration, and support areas; and an adjacent 11,000 square foot tuberculosis unit including 15 negative pressure rooms. The project also included NPC 4 Upgrades to the Central Plant.
The hospital had to remain fully operational during construction and a construction phasing plan was implemented that minimized impacts to operations at the hospital during construction.
The project was completed ahead of schedule and $1 million under budget.
